NB4379:Charge HandCNC Machinist

Salary:$55k – $65k NZ dollars

The Charge Hand CNC Machinist will support the Manufacturing Leader by ensuring all planned production targets are met in the most cost effective manner whilst ensuring that quality is not compromised.This will be achieved through hands on work and supervising and coaching of staff in the area to maximise performance at a shop floor level.

The Charge Hand position is a leadership role for the Machine Shop afternoon shift – reporting directly to the Manufacturing Leader. Charge Hands must be trade qualified or equivalent CNC Machinists, with a minimum of five years’ experience, to set, operate and oversee the operation of 3, 4, 5 axis Mill Turning Centres, Horizontal Machining Centres and  Horizontal borers. You will possess the skills required to produce high quality components in a range of materials, including Duplex Stainless Steel.

The CNC Machinist must be conversant with Fanuc controls (Okuma and Heidenheim would also be advantageous) you will be able to navigate through N.C. programs with confidence. You will also be capable of measuring components, taking remedial action and assisting with machinery maintenance.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example with respect to: attendance & timekeeping, workmanship, Health & Safety practices
  • Support company strategy, policies and procedures
  • Ensuring all staff areat their work stations for the cell start time.
  • Ensuring staff leave and return to the cell at the correct times for each break.
  • Ensure that any attendance issues such as sickness or holiday do not affect the output of the cell by redeploying staff as required.
  • Ensuring all staff are fully employed during normal working hours.
  • Ensure the production plan is adhered to and on time delivery of quality product is maintained.
  • Identify labour resourcing issues and balance as required to meet production targets
  • Ensure all staff wear the correct PPE at all times, and where appropriate initiate disciplinary against any member who continually fails to comply.
  • Ensure all relevant safety precautions are followed during any manufacturing process
  • Stop and correct any actions which compromise safety and are likely to lead to injury.
  • Report any defective equipment as soon as it is found and if necessary follow lock out procedures.
  • Regular communication with other cells regarding materials flow, components and services
  • Attendance at meetings as required.
  • Next shift charge hands are briefed as required
  • Ensure any issues are communicated with MCL
  • New processes and products are introduced effectively.
  • Communication to staff is clear and documentation complete.
  • Opportunities for improvement are raised discussed and implemented where appropriate
  • Encourage best practice and attention to detail
  • Ensure team members adhere to standard operator procedures
  • Monitor the quality of materials & components in process
  • Maintain a high standard of general housekeeping within the manufacturing area.
  • To work with the Cell leader and Maintenance Department in ensuring that key plant and equipment is maintained on a regular basis.
  • Emergency breakdowns are managed immediately
  • Clock cards are completed on a weekly basis.
  • All TPM sheets are completed on a daily/weekly basis

Candidate Requirements:
